On A Very Serious Note
The following video was linked to me by a friend whose brother (or brother-in-law, I forget which) is a missionary in Turkey acquainted with the gentlemen in the video. If you haven't already heard of their case, the basic details are as follows: the two men in the video are currently on trial for "insulting Turkishness" -- apparently an actual crime in Turkey. Their crime: being Christians. They were initially imprisoned on trumped-up weapons possession charges, and then for conspiracy charges due to a list of "potential converts" supposedly found on their computers.
Here's a link if the video doesn't stream properly.
More info here.
What's most impressive is their testimony here at this press conference. It's a stark reminder of how good we as Christians in America have it. We worship freely any time we want without fear. They are still living in a world very reminiscent of the way it was in that very region two thousand years ago under Roman rule.
The saddest part, from a western perspective, is that there seems to be a virtual media (well, MSM) blackout of this case. It's very important to me as a Christian, but this should be a huge deal for anyone who supposedly supports religious liberty. Particularly within a country that wants membership in a supposedly "Western" group like the EU.
